...In other words, I was teaching card games. :D But my kids loved it, so I kept doing it for the last week or so. Ever tried teaching before? And teaching children that don't speak the same language? They can get bored pretty easily so you really have to engage the little buggers any way you can. So, I got the bright idea to have the second half of class be "fun time" during the last week of summer course. "Fun time" meant "play cards and bet candy time until class ends."
I must say though, that I'm going to try the adult teaching thing here starting next weekend. That means I'll be teaching an English Corner (Talking about various subjects in English with a room of 50 or so Chinese people) and English Salons (10 or less). So that should provide a nice change of pace. I like teaching kids, but its time for something different. I also picked up a tutoring gig for 4 hours during the week, so that's some good extra cash right there.

Now that summer session with New World is over I'll be working weekends only and tutoring during the week. YESSSSSSSSSSS! While it was fun having weekends off, I found that I went out WAY too much. You can still go out any night of the week here and find something to do, but for some reason I found myself going out more only having two days off a week. Go figure.
I'm excited about my friend Cara coming to visit on the 17th of September. She's coming in from Paris and we're going to check out Bejing and some smaller cities around Shanghai. Will be the second familiar face from home. The other was actually one of Cara's friends who was passing through town. I've said this before and I'll say it again, you are all missing out on not taking advantage of the fact I am living here. I'm serious, Shanghai is a kickass city that should be seen at least once.
What else is new...hmmmm. I gave myself a mohawk. That was interesting, but suprisingly very popular. Who woulda thunk it. Currently I have a nearly bald head as you can see in the pics. I miss my hair, but I gotta say its nice to be able to wake up in the morning (afternoon) and just get up and go. The only problem with these styles is that people have wanted to fight me. It's gotta be the hair. I don't see any other correlation. I haven't had any trouble in 6 months but as soon as I change my hairstyle a couple random guys on different occcassions start talking smack to me. Nothing happened mind you, and the situations were avoided (I'm a lover not a fighter!) but it was still annoying.
Quick thought: Ever see 30 drunken English teachers and Chinese assistants having dinner and playing loud drinking games? I have. Not a pretty sight.
I'm going to start taking more pictures here pretty soon just because I want more of a record of what I've been doing. I will be able to get a bunch from my friends as well.
So there is the lowdown on the last month. Can basically sum it up as teaching, partying, eating, and wandering the streets of Shanghai. Having trouble with IE, so I'll have to upload the pics later.
